Midwest Book Review, June 2018 Issue:An inherently riveting read from first page to last by the team of Michael and Danny D'Agostino, it should be noted that "Beasts Shall Reign Over the Earth!" is a deftly crafted detective thriller that contains graphic scenes of horror that some readers may find disturbing. If you enjoy a story that has twists, turns and surprises throughout, then this is a perfect book for you. The way the writers have woven such detail into the characters is superb. The laid-back, dry wit of Detective Morgan Jackson and the feistiness of Detective Teresa Rodriguez complement each other very well. The tension and suspense throughout was excellent, and the descriptive writing was faultless. A superb story from start to finish with tension and thrills in abundance. The ending was not what I was expecting. You are taken on a journey filled with curve balls and excitement. This is a perfect book for anyone who likes a good thriller, horror, and whodunit.Reviewed By Ray Simmons for Readers’ Favorite:I liked Beasts Shall Reign Over the Earth! by Michael and Danny D'Agostino. It is a good detective story that paints a great picture of life in Manhattan, particularly the family life of a proud family of recent immigrants. I like to read stories like this, positive stories of how immigrants from Mexico and other countries work hard to get ahead and contribute, and even improve life here in America. The Rodriguez family in lower Manhattan is the perfect example of this and Teresa, a policewoman, is the driving force of this novel, which, when all is said and done, is a great detective story done in a refreshing new manner.I love the Rodriguez family. I especially love Teresa. This is a detective story and she is a great detective. The plot is unique. It is developed logically from small beginnings into a massive conclusion. I usually say which element of the story I feel is the strongest in a book, but in Beasts Shall Reign Over the Earth! I just can’t pick the strongest point. Michael and Danny D'Agostino wrote all of the elements superbly and they balance out into a gripping story. The characters, the plot, the pictures of life in Manhattan all come together to make a great book. This is crime writing at its finest and I look forward to reading more books by these two writers.Stacy Decker – Indie Book Reviewers:Woah, what an insane book. While this does have a familiar feel to it – where some genetically created ‘monster’ (and its offspring) terrorize a city and murder people/animals, it has a spunky quality and a lot of descriptions that also make it fun to read. I’m not one for rehashing the plot (that’s what the summary is for on the book description page), but I didn’t expect to be so sucked into this bizarre world as I was (even if it is NY) and I am glad that this isn’t all about ‘dog maulings’ which I thought it was from the description. That is just one part that happens to lead to the rest of the book. There is so much mystery and intrigue and ‘what the heck is happening here’ that you can’t help but want to keep reading more and more. And the way that the authors draw out the story we see just a little more and more but then are still surprised by the ‘why’ and ‘how’ and it’s up to Teresa to connect the dots on the ‘who’. . . . have fun with the freaky, weird ride. Recommended for mature readers only. Cody Brighton – Indie Book Reviewers:Let the bodies hit the floor! Yikes! This book is definitely not for the faint of heart or easily spooked…or grossed out. It is downright creepy and at times quite unnerving and the authors hold nothing back in terms of delivering the gross-out factor. But if you can handle a show like “True Blood” (I am currently binging on) you can handle this book. Even though there are no vampires, just a murderous ‘beast’ on a rampage. But we don’t know why it is happening or how (of even if) the killings are connected. I will say that it did take me some time to get into the story… it starts off with a lot of ‘telling’ backstory and character biography that is narrated to us in 3rd person present tense – which is an odd choice and feels like we are reading a movie script instead of a book. It smooths out later and transitions into the more traditional 3rd person past tense . . . There are some inciting incidents that pique our curiosity (the maulings and the murder of humans) but it gets more interesting when we see what is behind it all. I think the pictures in the beginning are a nice touch, and the book does have an interactive feature where you can click the link for audio sounds, which is pretty cool. Laura Clarke – Indie Book Reviewers:Beasts Shall Reign Over The Earth” is the second book (novella) I’ve read from these authors, Michael and Danny D’Agostino, so I already knew that they have a quirky, unorthodox writing style that isn’t like most books I’ve read. But what I like is how they aren’t afraid to take chances and push limits. The storyline itself is pretty entertaining— suspenseful, descriptive and disturbingly creepy. It is pretty fast-paced and easy to read in a single evening. For me it got really crazy good during the last 25% or so when it all started to blow up… Adults only. Anabella Johnson – Indie Book Reviewers:Recommended for those who enjoy a good thriller that is dark and unpredictable and really twisted – and I mean that in a good way. For older readers only who aren’t squeamish prudes.
